    Communication

Purpose
The following has been prepared by Magellan Marine, Inc. to establish company policies and procedures. The responsibilities listed are not all-inclusive and should be viewed on a project-by-project basis.

Any questions concerning policies or responsibilities should be directed to John Naylon or Mike James. MMI invites any and all constructive comments.

Employment Status

bullet

All personnel, unless otherwise designated in writing, are considered independent contractors. Based on Section 530 of the Revenue Act of 1978, each contractor is individually responsible for his / her own Federal Income tax, State Income tax, Social Security tax and Medicare tax.

bullet

As an independent contractor, MMI recognizes individuals may not always be readily available, and MMI requests to be notified of availability status.

bullet

MMI requires notification of any conflict of interest positions that may possibly exist. This includes, but is not limited to, temporary or permanent employment by any marine contractor or service company and any involvement or financial interest with any marine product that may be utilized by MMI or its clients.

Pay Policies

bullet

Offshore personnel will be paid on an hourly basis for all hours worked. Offshore hours are generally 12-hour minimums, with some exceptions on the first and last day of a project. It is our intent to please both the client and our independent contractors, so we ask for some common sense in these situations.

bullet

Onshore hours will be charged for hours worked and no minimums apply without prior agreement.

bullet

Overtime rates will be at your normal hourly rate. There is no overtime premium.

bullet

Travel hours will not be paid without prior agreement on an individual project basis. Hours generally start with the time requested at the project start point.

Mileage will be paid from the contractor's residence and for job related travel when working onshore. Mileage will be charged at $.30 / mile.

Personnel will be paid on the 1st and the 15th of each month for work completed two weeks prior.

Submit work-performed information on the 1st, no later than the 6th, if you are to receive a paycheck on the 15th.

bullet

Submit work-performed information on the 16th, no later that the 21st, if you are to receive a paycheck on the 1st.

bullet

With prior written agreement, personnel may be reimbursed for on the job use of their personal computer at the rate of $10 per day. MMI strongly encourages the use of computers offshore as a valuable tool for accurate and detailed reporting.
