Excel files are known
as workbooks. A single workbook can store numerous sheets. These sheets are
stacked like the pages in a notebook. You can see that there are different
sheets because each sheet has a tab located on the bottom. Each sheet tab is
named individually.
Using a Default
Workbook Template:
A default workbook template is used as the basis for all new workbooks you
create.
1. Open the MMI Forms
02 workbook;
2. Go to File on the toolbar at the top of your screen;
3. Click on Save As to display the Save As dialog box;
4. Change the file name to MMI Forms Template (or something like this);
5. Change the Save As Type to Template;
6. Click Save.
Saving a workbook
under a different name:
Here a new copy is
created with a different name, but the original version of the file remains
intact.
1. Go to File on the
toolbar at the top of your screen;
2. Click on Save As to display the Save As dialog box;
3. Select the folder in which to store the workbook;
4. Enter a new filename in the File name box (the filename is the MMI job
number);
5. Click Save.
Copying a worksheet:
You can easily make an exact copy of a worksheet.
1. Click on the tab
of the worksheet you are wanting to copy;
2. Now right click (using the right button on the mouse) - this shows a list
of options;
3. Click on Move or Copy;
4. On the bottom of the box click on the Create a copy box (this will insert a
checkmark);
5. To book: should show the workbook that is currently open such as MMI Forms
02;
6. Before sheet: this area shows the worksheets that are in this workbook. If
you are copying the 7-Day Report; you will want the copied 7 Day Report to go
after the current or original 7 Day Report so you would click on the worksheet
following the 7 Day Report
7. Click OK
Changing a
worksheet's name:
Once you have your copied worksheet you will need to rename it.
1. Click on the tab of the worksheet you want to rename;
2. Now right click- this shows a list of options;
3. Click on Rename - now the current name is highlighted and able to be changed;
4. Type the new name of the worksheet;
5. Press Enter
